A quickie this morning! …….but, before you get the wrong idea, this is about a fly! I have written about my little Cranefly pattern before, but after finding a drowned specimen of the natural terrestrial insect of the family Tipulidae (order Diptera) in the bird bath this morning I thought I ‘d share with you what it I think, is a pretty good example of an impressionistic pattern. This small fly I first developed in 2012 has proved a successful searching fly on the small streams of the Drakensberg and now has its permanent place in my fly box. Just sharing!
